Why do we have to ask for organic milk? Why isn't all milk organic? At what point did it become okay to contaminate the milk with toxins? When did they switch the milk? Did they ask us if we wanted the toxins? And, why don't they list the chemicals or explain on the label that the milk is genetically modified? Why aren't health risks listed on the carton, like alcohol and cigarettes?
U.S. Department of Agriculture "Team Nutrition Call to Action: Healthy School Nutrition Environments" report says 50 percent of total daily caloric intake is consumed at school. Public schools, including Newport-Mesa Unified School District schools, use the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for America to create school lunch programs. These guidelines promote consuming substantial amounts of dairy, while the information is contradictory to scientific evidence provided by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) and many other sources.
Milk's selling points are calcium and vitamin D! "Milk and dairy products are not necessary in the diet and can, in fact, be harmful to health. It is best to consume a healthful diet of grains, fruits, vegetables, legumes, and fortified foods including cereals and juices. These nutrient-dense foods can help you meet your calcium, potassium, riboflavin, and vitamin D requirements with ease—and without health risks" - PCRM.
At the last Total Health Mastery class, Arnoux shared the best advice, "Get your vitamin D from the source, the SUN!" Five to fifteen minutes sun exposure a day is all you need. This is supported by the PCRM report outlining the potential health concerns related to dairy products.
Dairy health risks include cancer (ovarian, prostate, and breast), type 1 diabetes, heart disease, and the development of obesity. The only way to reduce these risks is to increase exercise and the intake of fruits and vegetables - calcium rich plant foods such as kale, broccoli, other leafy green vegetables and beans.
It should be the rule, not the exception that we give our kids the best foods available. More Living Foods Without Toxins!

I must say that I've thought the exact same thing about all of our food in America. Why is organic called organic when it's just normal, natural food the way nature intended? Instead of calling commercial food normal it should be called "toxic" food so that everyone is clear on the differences.
It's shocking to me to find out how few people are aware of how their food is grown. It's unfortunate but I'm sure that most people think that non-organic milk is perfectly safe and healthy. They probably believe that it is high in calcium and good for their bones and overall health.
It's unfortunate because nothing could be farther from the truth. In studying the work of two time nobel prize winner Linus Pauling we discover that he proved clearly that a cancer cell forms when a regular cell becomes acidic.
In reading Dr. Robert Young's book "The pH Miracle" we discover that being alkaline, which is the opposite of acidic, is the key to optimal health, preventing not just cancer but many other health challenges.
Here is the rub, pasteurized milk is one of the most acidic things we humans eat. Non-organic is even worse because of the poisons in it.
Because most people are not aware of these proven scientific facts and have been misled by the National Dairy Council and marketing campaigns, it's up to the government to protect the people from their own ignorance and serve the innocent youth of our country, our future leaders, healthy foods in school.
I also believe it's our duty and ethical responsibility as a government to provide accurate education to our nation's children and people regarding health. Considering the current health crisis that we are facing with overweight Americans accounting for 70% of us and 30% being obese with nearly 1 in 2 people dying of cancer, a disease that only killed 1 in 5 Americans in 1970 and 1 in 100 in 1900 (see Diet for A New America and Cleanse and Purify Thyself for a reference), it's more important now than ever for a non-biased, scientifically based health education in America's public schools.
I hope this change will come soon.

Arnoux - we agree on this for sure. I grew up with parents who were children of the sixties, so we had fresh fruits and vegetables every meal. Mind you we had animal products too, but nothing processed or store bought! My next blog is going directly to the school board, because it is unacceptable for a rich district like ours to fall behind. We should be leading the way with innovative ways to reduce childhood obesity and diabetes, not to mention the on going cancer epidemic... Thanks for sharing some great information!
